Tony started at ACHIEVE’s Broad Street IRA in 1994 and moved to the Supportive Apartment Program in 1999. Tony currently lives in a single apartment on Spruce Street in Johnson City. He keeps a very neat and tidy apartment and assists his landlord with duties around the property. Tony has worked on a financial skills goal and is becoming his own rep payee this year. He is now working towards obtaining his driver’s permit.
Tony works at ACHIEVE’s Country Valley Industries Lester Avenue facility in the warehouse. He is an excellent employee with many skills. Tony has gone through classes for Supportive Employment and may be looking into options soon. He has an excellent attendance record and is utilized in different locations when the need arises. Tony is currently working on making it into the Guinness Book of World Records by making the largest tape ball. While working, he has to remove packaging tape from boxes. He takes the used tape and wraps it around the ball and is very close to the record now!
You might find Tony riding his bike around Johnson City or working out at the YMCA. Tony is a power lifter with the Special Olympics, but he trains year round. Last year he lifted 310 lbs. to win the Gold for his weight class! Tony’s hobbies include working on his lap top, learning about casino games, and traveling. Tony will be going on his fourth trip to Las Vegas this year with People and Places.
