SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. -- Four Southern Tier non-profit groups that work with the elderly and disabled will receive eight new buses worth more than $450,000.
The grants for the wheelchair accessible vehicles come from the Federal Transit Administration. Among the groups receiving the new buses is Achieve, which is based in Binghamton. The non-profit works with hundreds of disabled people in Broome and Tioga counties. They'll receive three buses, the most out of the chosen groups. |

The Marshmallow Wonderland Wedding display was made by a group of handicapped adults from ACHIEVE Day Habilitation Center. The project was developed to help these individuals work on motor skills while also spreading Christmas joy to everyone.

Businesses and individuals that have helped Broome County's disabled community were honored Saturday night. The organization ACHIEVE held an award banquet to show their thanks to those who have provided employment opportunities for disabled individuals. organizers say they're thankful for support that helps makes disabled Broome County residents feel like they are part of the community. |

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – There was a busy game of leap frog Tuesday at the ACHIEVE Camp mini Olympics in Binghamton and to cheer the athletes on were some members of the B-Mets baseball team.
The summer camp serves 190 special needs students from ages five to 21. Whether it's competing in relay races, a water balloon toss, or an obstacle course, organizers say the students get to work on their developmental skills. |
