You may be asking, Why should I become a member of ACHIEVE? How does my membership help?
Your membership gives us a louder and stronger voice that is heard by state legislators and national policy makers. It also helps to aid our advocacy efforts – a strong and growing membership is vital as we continue to advocate on behalf of our program sand services and the individuals and families who depend on us.
As a member…
You become part of a network of families, friends, and professionals who share your commitment to making sure that people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities get the services they need and to which they are entitled.
You add your voice to those seeking legislation and public policies that protect the rights of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Every voice counts!
You will receive the Agency’s Newsletter and other important mailings that provide information about ACHIEVE and developments in the field of intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
You provide ACHIEVE with representation at NYSARC, Inc. and additional voting and decision-making power at NYSARC meetings. Simply put, the more members an agency/chapter has, the more voting power they receive!
Membership is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age and who either (1) live or work in Broome/Tioga Counties; or (2) receive services from Broome/Tioga Counties, or are a family member of an individual who is/has received services in Broome/Tioga Counties; or (3) are an employee of ACHIEVE, a Chapter of NYSARC, Inc.
